This flap assembly is 14 inches wide. The steel set back portion positions the flaps back 1 inch, providing additional room for larger tires without the tire rubbing on the mud flap. Some tube steps and running boards only allow 1 inch of movement behind the wheel well, making this application ideal. Our black set back mud flaps are manufactured using 14-gauge steel for rigidity, versus competitors 18-gauge steel that leaves the flap swaying because the steel is not thick enough. We finish our set back by spraying on a polyurea coating that encapsulates the steel. Powder-coated set backs quickly lose paint on the tire side on gravel roads starting the rust process quickly.
